A Little Global Warming Cover-Up

For all intents and purposes, it appeared to be your typical global warming hysteria headline, marking the retirement of long-time chief hurricane predictor Max Mayfield:

Hurricane center chief issues final warning
A departing Max Mayfield is convinced that the Southeast is inviting disaster

Unfortunately, the otherwise fine piece of reporting in the LA Times fell unceremoniously into the bias slop pile because reporter Carol Williams failed to mention one little thing: Max Mayfield is a major global warming skeptic.

He tends to keep his commentary limited to his field of expertise, as he should, but when someone tries to link an active hurricane season to global warming, you can count on Mayfield for a devastating rebuttal.

A simple error of omission or a case of deliberate slanting? I'm warming to the latter.
