Villaraigosa Opportunism
If you're not too familiar with LA's opportunistic leftwing mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, here's a typical mayoral highjinx:
What good would a call prior to the speech have done?
"Hey, Tony, George W. here. I'm going to talk later today about an attack on the Liberty ... er ... Library Tower in LA (Why there it is over on the right!) that didn't happen back in 2002. It still hasn't happened, and if I keep on doin' what I'm doin', it won't. Bye."
Mayor V. is such typical denial-Dem. He says, "I go to work every day knowing that we are a target," but he thinks we should stop spending money in Iraq. I guess he didn't catch the speech. Tony, if the terrorists are busy full-time covering their butts in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and dealing with us reducing their numbers daily in Iraq, it's good news for the City of Angels.
During the campaign, Hugh Hewitt was pulling hard for Villagairosa, in his Machiavillian way. His thinking: Mayor V. won't be content as mayor for long, and will soon aspire to the Gov's office. What better Dem candidate than Antonio, with his crazy left background and penchant for silly grandstanding?
Yup.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Thursday he was blindsided by President Bush's announcement of new details on a purported 2002 hijacking plot aimed at a downtown skyscraper, and described communication with the White House as "nonexistent."Villaraigosa was a city council member, not the mayor, in 2002, so for all he knows communications were made at the time."I'm amazed that the president would make this (announcement) on national TV and not inform us of these details through the appropriate channels," the mayor said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I don't expect a call from the president - but somebody."
