Speaking Of Good Comments
Bookworm on the judicial nomination process:
It really is horrifying how one 1973 decision has completely corrupted our judicial process, and the process for selecting our judiciary, isn't it? Being a Supreme Court judge is no longer about being intelligent, honest, intellectually rigorous, and someone sworn to protect the Constitution and ensure that laws comport with Constitutional standards. In the malevolent sauce of abortion-policy, Supreme Court service has been reduced to "Yes, I support Roe v. Wade" or "No, I don't." Everything else, to miserably paraphrase Hillel, is just commentary.
