Dafur-ious
Pat at Judicious Asininity posted such a good comment on my earlier post about genocide in Dafur that it's worth sharing.

It's a bit rough to blame the US for doing nothing. It's taken enough heat for doing the right thing in Iraq and it is stretched to the limit dealing with radical Muslims in areas of strategic importance. Could Bush have gotten the equivalent of UN resolution 1441 to deal with Sudan? Which allies could he count on to support a military effort against the Janjaweed? France? Egypt? Germany?Yup. Jackson & Co. are so busy being racist and accusing us of being racist that they don't even have time to do something to save their African brothers. Am I being judgmental? No way. I just did a Nexis search for Jesse Jackson in the same paragraph as Dafur for the last six months and got zero hits.
I'd also note that African-Americans of Jesse Jackson's ilk showed precious little interest in the fate of Africans threatened by genocide. Had the "civil rights" movement taken the cause of oppressed "Zurga" [a word used by the Arab Sudanese that translates, basically, as "nigger"] on board, perhaps they could have generated the political will to actually do something about Darfur.
