Defining "Mainstream"

As Chuck and Teddy crybaby on about the need for a "moderate" Supreme Court justice who reflects "mainstream" views, we cast about for definitions.

Here's a hint from one who's been calling out for a moderate, mainstream nominee, from today's WaPo:

"The public is pro-choice" -- Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America
So "mainstream" means "pro-abortion?" But wait!

An LATimes poll taken in January of this year finds 53% opposed to abortion and only 43% opting for legality. And a CBS poll taken two months later found 63% favoring restrictions on abortion and only 35% favoring abortion availability. (source)

So "mainstream" means "minorstream." Got it.
