Brad Pitt is the latest in a long line of celebs to care about Africa. Tonight on Prime Time Live he will tell Diane Sawyer,
Of course the media showed its complete buy-in to Brad's "less Brad, more Africa" idea right away. In the AP preview of the Sawyer interview, the very next paragraph after Brad's "We gotta go for it" quote is:
"I can't get out of the press. These people can't get in the press. So let's redirect the attention a little bit."Agreed. If MSM never ran another Brad Pitt story, I wouldn't even realize I was "missing" something. But Africa cries out. Unfortunately, Pitt apparently keeps his mouth open after making this point.
"We have the potential to end poverty (in Africa) in our time. ... Man ... I mean, what is more exciting than that? The potential's there. We gotta go for it."So sorry, Brad, but that's a pipe dream. You could give Africa every penny you make for the rest of your life (which you wouldn't do), and you wouldn't make a dent. In fact, your approach of giving is only a small part of the solution. Democracy, business, freedom, faith -- that's the ticket, Brad, not foreign aid to dictators.
