Why Americans Hate Democrats

That title isn't mine, it's Slate's. It's for yet another article, this one byNation editor Katha Pollit, that considers what Liberals can to to improve the Democratic Party's prospects. Their olive branches are covered with bloody thorns, and they don't even realize it. The article abounds the Left's language of arrogance, elitism, ignorance and misunderstanding, underscoring that either the American people or the Democratic Party is going to have to change before the Donkey passes the Elephant again. Here are the phrases Pollit uses:

• mock the CEOs
• heartland homophobes
• people who wear those Precious Feet pins
• invading one Muslim country after another
• I don't know anyone who believes in the Rapture
• ... no sign of the 4 million missing evangelical voters Karl Rove was trying to activate. Maybe they were hiding in the church basement?
• the "morals" vote and the Christian-right vote were overblown
• going on endlessly about marriage and family values and God
• promising to shovel yet more goodies to married couples and the suburbs
• If a voter wants Christian Jihad ...
• a crucial subtext of Republicanism is ... the preservation of white privilege
• sexism and homophobia and reactionary cultural politics and creationism
• taxing business for social programs

"Why Americans hate democrats" ... even their title is wrong. They hate us, for sure, but by and large, we don't reciprocate. We work hard to beat them, we work hard to convert them, but as the Bible says, love the sinner.
