Time Out!

Congress is back in session ... well, on one side of the Capitol.

The hair-thin Dem majority gets down to biz in the Senate today, but in NanPo's 100-hour, let's show America what we can do that the do-nothing GOP couldn't House, the lights are off and the desks are empty.

Officially, the House is delaying its start so freshman Dems have time to return from a retreat in Williamsburg -- a daunting distance of 100 miles from the Capitol.

Carl Hulse, writing in NYT's The Caucus blog, offers up an alternative explanation:
The unofficial explanation is that some lawmakers also wanted to take in the Ohio State – Florida championship game in Arizona.
Last time I checked, gameday is not a national holiday.
