Quote Of The Day: Denial Edition

"I did not have IM with that page."
-- Anonymous

The Foley scandal, if nothing else, will force the world to differentiate between email messages and IM messages. It's now, "Who knew what about which IMs, and when?"

That finely diced slice is the difference between plausible deniability and being caught with one's ethical pants down around one's ankles.

By the time the election rolls around, the matter will be so muddied, and Dems so implicated in the "who knews" that all it will show is that politicians do not represent a good model for model behavior. The scandal's biggest impact may be that it will keep disgusted voters away from the polls -- which ironically should benefit the GOP, because Republicans have superior get-out-the-vote infrastructure.

Besides, even a turned-off GOP voter understands that it's the Dems who stand for teaching tykes all about homosexuality -- and isn't that worse by several degrees than sending lewd IMs to 17-year-olds?
