Another Reason To Build The Border Fence
I know there are already 12 million-plus reasons to build the border fence, but here's one more: To keep out that guy on the right, Luis Ernesto Derbez , Mexico's foreign secretary.
Here's what Derbez said today in France, airing US-Mexican issues before the world, according to AP:
They've had six years to do something, and their incompetence has forced the issue to the point where Americans -- not Congressional leaders looking for short-term political gains -- demanded a solution, so Derbez is going to win no popularity contests in El Norte.
Undeterred, Derbez is going to bang his gong into the ears of other European leaders, all to try to get the UN to consider the matter. Talk about another reason to keep John Bolton as our UN ambassador!
He's got until December 1 to stir up the pot on this issue; after that, Fox is gone and President-elect Felipe Calderon, who's no fan of the fence, has said it is an issue for Mexico and the US to work out, and should not be put before the international community. Si on that.

Derbez said Monday after meeting with French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy that it was a "shame" U.S. immigration policy had been used for what he claimed was a short-term political gain in the lead-up to midterm elections in the U.S. in November. What's a shame is that Derbez and his boss Vincente Fox have not only ignored our pleas for Mexico to do something to their economy and their border enforcement out of respect for our international border, but instead they've actually encouraged the rising of the tide.
