The Distant Third Parties

Dems in California cast about 2 million votes in the primary race for governor. In contrast, Peter Camejo of the Greens got 25,797 loonies to vote for him.

Republican voters cast about 1.5 million votes in their primary for the Gov's seat, while Libertarian candidate Art Oliver racked up a seriously underwhelming 13,595.

Throw in American Independent and Peace and Freedom, and you get a total third-party vote of 66,000 votes out of about 2.5 million votes cast.

I think we should stop calling these ... um ... unique ... individuals third parties and start calling them what they are: fantasy voters. Their game is not much different that fantasy baseball.
