Look Back Or Look Forward?
The Dem's continuing focus on the start of the war in Iraq, as exemplified by this Kevin Mapes piece in Washington Monthly, which details all their "Bush Lied/People Died" talking points, is building toward some kind of creshendo. Hopefully, their cymbals will clang on or about December 15.
That will put all their hypocricy (as in "I believed the intelligence then, I don't believe it now") into stark contrast with the first democratic election in Iraq. This is the big one that the previous two elections -- historic in their own right -- have been building up to.
Iraqis will now be electing the government that will run their country and represent them for the next four years. This is the government that will wean Iraq from the need for foreign military support and bring forth a free republic in the heart of the Muslim world. It will be a government voted into office by Sunnis, who have not been willing participants thus far, as well as Shi'as and Kurds.
It will be the government that stands up to al Qaeda. And in doing so, it will be the government that pits a free people against those who would bind them in chains and kill them, and it will do this as the entire Muslim world watches. Al Qaeda won't have a chance.
While sane Americans celebrate this victory, the Dems will be talking about aluminum tubes and yellowcake. Let them eat yellowcake! The world will be more interested in those who are breathing the sweet air of freedom, with the help of George Bush and the US military.
