I wonder if the White House is utterly, royally pissed not about the FEMA ****ups, not about the thousands dead, not about tens of thousands of Americans suffering under Sudanese conditions, not even about the loss of "property", but about the loss of the ability to hide behind 9/11 for the purposes of pimping Bush's "leadership" (among other things).

Wishful -- if astonishingly cynical and twisted -- thinking. As a massive aid program fires up, clearheaded leadership is showing through already.

Wasn't the hurricane called "Katrina," not "George?" The Left's ongoing fixation on America as a third world country indicates they never have seen a third world country. New Orleans is not a country, it is a city. It will come back like an American city, not a third world city.

Corporate Giving Grows on Hurricane Relief

Corporate America continued giving millions in supplies and money Thursday to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, with donations ranging from diapers to 10,000 oven-fresh pizzas.

Bet this is just a new way to get more money into Republican coffers...

and how about that mayor - the little bushies are gonna have a problem with him when things settle.

It is interesting that in all the blasting of Bush, there's praise for Louisiana's Democrat governor and New Orleans' Democrat mayor. I don't want to be mimick their partisanship in a time of disaster, but isn't emergency preparedness their job? And the job of their many, many Dem predecessors?

And to close this out, a little fantasy:

i would like to spend one moment imagining what things would be like if we were in the 5th year of a gore admin.
we would have osama. we would have afganistan under control. We would have had the resources to ensure that NO would have been evacted sunday because Gore would have been on the job on saturday and because we would not have invaded Iraq for no reason. We would have spent 5 years dealing with the environment which would have lead to a reality check on oil. we would not be indebted to the chinese, because an idiotic tax cut for the super rich would not have happened.
whatever you think of Gore - we are in a real fix. and it is because of a series of astoundingly stupid policy decisions.
