Hitting Dems Where It Hurts
Gov. Schwarzenegger is reportedly readying a special election that would include an initiative that would prohibit public employee unions from using union dues for politics unless the worker gives them permission.
According to this morning's LATimes, all that remains to be done is a little polling, and it will certainly show that the governor can win on this one.
LAT, of course, gets it wrong, saying, the initiative "would pit the governor and his corporate contributors against Democrats and their union backers." Even a modicum of research would show that corporate contributions split fairly evenly and union contributions skew hugely Dem. A more accurate description would have been that the initiative would pit highly politicized union bosses against their rank and file, but you didn't hear that from LAT.
