A Comeuppance for Ferrell.
One Hollywood's chief know-nothings, Mike Ferrell, was at Cal Poly Pomona yesterday, managing to cobble together 45 minutes on why the death penalty is an "outdated, immoral practice" used "by demagogues to further their political career." [That would be a sic there, Mike. It's "their careers."]
Cal Poly is just down the road from Chino State Prison for Men, from which Kevin Cooper escaped in 1983 and killed 4, including 11-year-old Christopher Hughes.
Unknown to Ferrell, Christopher's mom was in the audience, and when Ferrell asked, "Any questions?" boy did she have one:
Of course not. His comment was: "This problem these people have with this could've also come up if I was at this school on another date, or even if I appeared anywhere in this county,"
"These people?" What, are they just "little Eichmans" or something? And, Mike, are you really saying the victims and their feelings are the problem? And that the problem is that they can make you feel a little silly and uncomfortable anywhere in the country?
Isn't the problem really that there are genuinely evil people out there who, if we hold life sacred, we need to execute for no other reason than to tell them live is sacred and decent people won't put up with people like Kevin Cooper?
More here.

"How dare you talk about closure! My son would be 33 today. You take the picture of my son's wounds and put a picture of one of your children's faces where my son's face was. I guarantee you'd have a completely different perspective."Well OK, she didn't exactly have a question, but here's one: Did Ferrell get it?
Of course not. His comment was: "This problem these people have with this could've also come up if I was at this school on another date, or even if I appeared anywhere in this county,"
