The LA Times: Keeping Bias Alive

Yesterday, I caught the LA Times with its bias exposed, as it incorrectly identified an expert as being with the Carnegie Foundation, which supports education. In fact, the critic of the Pentagon's missile defense program is with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which supports irrational peacemongering and anti-Americanism. (here)

I fired off a letter to the Times seeking a bit more than a correction:

In today’s article by John Hendron, “Missile Defense Systems Fails Test,” Joseph Cirincione was misidentified as being with the Carnegie Foundation. Cirincione is in fact with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and should have been identified as such since it makes his political viewpoint more identifiable to readers.

Hendron’s article is an excellent example of the Times’ consistent failure to quote conservative sources. It really is a shameful practice that reveals your newspaper’s lack of journalistic objectivity. You might instruct Hendron to quote Frank Gaffney from The Center for Security Policy in his next article.

Guess what? No correction ran.
