Signs That New Orleans Is Returning To Normal

The Left can stop braying about how Bush is ignoring the Big Easy. It's obvious from this headline from the Times-Picayune that life there has returned to normal:

Contrite councilman resigns; admits taking bribe

The article,which goes on for some 50 paragraphs never mentions the party affiliation of the bribe-taker, Oliver Thomas, so we can safely assume he is a Democrat.

In his court statement, Thomas played the sympathy card:

"I've been getting counseling for a few years, because of Katrina and because of my brother [who died, but was not a Katrina victim] and the images of bodies and despair -- the whole rescue stuff," he said struggling to hold back tears. "Some people you could help, some you couldn't."

Just one thing ... Oliver accepted the bribe long before Katrina.
