Putting It In Context

The great debate over whether Kerry's statement at Pasedena City College was taken out of context or not, is easily answered through a simple two-step process:
  1. Assume it was a botched joke.
  2. Un-botch it.

Here's the quote:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Here's the quote with context:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, like President Bush, you'll get stuck in Iraq."

His "botched joke" excuse makes no sense. He thinks only dummies join the military and serve in Iraq.

End of argument.
