Quote Of The Day: Lemmings Edition

Tom DeLay may or may not have broken campaign finance laws, but he did his best to look like he was breaking them. He might as well have tied quail feathers to the GOP majority in Congress and sent it hunting with Dick Cheney. -- P.J. O'Rouke

P.J.'s just getting warmed up in this quote from his new Weekly Standard column lambasting the GOP -- "Watching Republicans in Washington is like watching lemmings, if lemmings jumped into cesspools instead of off cliffs." -- and promising to give up on them and work for Democrats ... or not:
Maybe I won't work for the Democrats. It's too much of a job. And jobs are not something the Democratic base is famous for having. Maybe I'll just act like a Democrat and stay away from the polls on November 7 and hang around the house drinking beer. In fact, I think I'll start practicing that now, so I'll be ready on Election Day.
O'Rouke's Parliament of Whores is one of the funniest books I've ever read, and he continues to amuse in that very painful way he has -- poking you once in the eye, then poking the other guy twice. It's terribly unfortunate that GOP leadership has allowed the party to become fodder for comedians, but since it has, thank God there are comedians like O'Rouke who for the most part avoid the "Bush is stupid" kind of humor for something funnier, more constructive ... and painful.
