Quote Of The Day: Cowardly Lions Edition

Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public and to children would be a gross miscarriage of your corporate and civic responsibility to the law, to your shareholders, and to the nation.

The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. ... We urge you, after full consideration of the facts, to uphold your responsibilities as a respected member of American society and as a beneficiary of the free use of the public airwaves to cancel this factually inaccurate and deeply misguided program.

-- Senate Dem Leaders, in letter to Disney/ABC

The letter is signed by a gang of thugs: Reid, Durbin, Stabenow, Schumer, Dorgan. It is no more than the wagging fist and gutteral snarl of a schoolyard bully, threatening to beat up a kid who's about to rat the bully out.

Their thuggishness boils down to an unveiled threat against ABC's broadcast licence for the crime of presenting history, just because they don't like the history of their party.

Of course, the entire Dem premise depends on the belief that Disney and ABC are right-wing stooges out to discredit the Dems. That is an enven tougher re-writing of history that trying to re-cast the events leading up to 9/11 as a story of Dem competence (or GOP competence, for that matter). Witness this:

The Media Research Center today released a study documenting how ABC, CBS, and NBC have presumed the worst about government anti-terror efforts since Sept.11, 2001 and allowed leftist politics to skew their coverage of NSA surveillance, the Patriot Act, and Guantanamo inmates. The coverage overall makes government anti-terror tactics look as frightening as terrorism itself.

MRC analysts examined all 496 evening news stories on ABC, CBS and NBC about these three major elements of the post-9/11 war on terrorism from September 11, 2001 through August 31, 2006 for the Special Report, The Media vs. The War on Terror.
What inept and corrupt leadership the Dems have. They could have simply pointed out Path's criticism of the GOP, said "We all were asleep, but that was then," and actually done something to advance the War on Terror.

But because they are so deranged by Bush, they're making 9/11 all about them, not about those who died, not about us, not about our Islamofascist enemy. And that, if the American people have any discernment at all, should cost them bigtime.
