Middle East Touches Home

My longtime best friend from all the way back in high school is Peter Tsukahira, who now pastors the Carmel Assembly, a Messianic congregation on Mt. Carmel in Israel ... in the city of Haifa, which was just hit by Hezbolah rockets. Surely the mountain is safe, but Carmel Assembly also works with the Beit Nitzachon (House of Victory) residential rehabilitation center in Haifa.

If you're a praying person, please say a prayer for Peter, his family and his congregation.

Meanwhile, Incredible Daughter #3's best friend is stuck in Beirut. She's Lebanese, and the family was home for a summer vacation when the current violence hit. I.D. #3 told me last night she was really, really scared for the safety of her friend ... the first time in her 11 years that world events have hit home to her.

So there's another family to pray for.

As the conflict escalates, our worries soar. But that's the cost of freedom, the cost of fighting for what's right.
