Fool Me Once ...
Emboldened a day after a successful jailbreak, insurgents laid siege to another prison Wednesday. This time, U.S. troops and a special Iraqi unit thwarted the pre-dawn attack south of Baghdad, overwhelming the gunmen and capturing 50 of them, police said. The terrorists have basically playing the same game since their insurgency began. It works all too well with IEDs, but today's action shows that they are not capable of mounting ongoing effective offensives.
But don't expect AP with its "agenda objectivity" to see it that way. The "objective" news service couldn't allow itself to go any further than the lead paragraph before going negative:
Although the raid failed, the insurgents' ability to put together such large and well-armed bands of fighters underlined concerns about the ability of Iraqi police and military to take over the fight from U.S. troops.Underlined whose concerns, pray tell? Can AP name even one person beyond the hacks hanging around the Green Zone "reporting" on a war they stay as far away from as they can?
