No Oil For New Hampshire!
Yesterday, the House apparently ran a contest for Head Nitwit, and this is the guy who won -- Rep. Charles Bass of New Hampshire.
He led the moderate Republican charge in the house to kill the Senate's provision in the budget bill that would open ANWR to oil drilling. Maybe he's a connoisseur of irony, because it's always been the Senate killing the House's ANWR bill.
So no oil for New Hampshire, eh? Let their hybrids run out of gas, their snowplows sit unuseable as the drifts build. Let them shivver in their Birkenstocks by their wood stoves.
House members, always running for reelection, are struggling with the budget bill, afraid to do anything that might hurt them next November. It's time to cut, though, so the Senate needs to keep the cuts intact and bring back ANWR when the bill hits committee.
