Holy Sewage!

That witty headline adorned a news article a few months back as the story of the Dharma Bums at the Orange County Sanitation District and the Orange County Fire Authority got busted for bringing relgion into the government workplace.

You may have never heard of this case because the religion involved is Buddhism, not Christianity. And Buddhism doesn't come cheap -- the sewage district has spent $400,000 for the services of Dharma Consulting, on a $15,000 a month contract. The Fire Authority has spent less, but gives every new recruit the book Awakening Corporate Soul: Four Paths to Unleash the Power of People at Work.

One of the book's authors, Eric Klein, claims to be one of the few westerners to be ordained as a "yogic priest."

ACLU, where are you?
