MoveOn.org Fundraises Off Katrina

Go to the MoveOn.org Web site and you can sign a petion blasting Bush for the hurricane, and once you do, you're led to a page where you can give money -- not to hurricane victims, but to MoveOn.org.

The home page blares, Tell Bush: "Don't blame hurricane victims. Help them!" The federal effort was too little, too late and tre fact that the White House would blame state and local officials after they begged for help is appalling!"

If you fall for that bundle of lies, you click through to the petition. It repeats the home page memo, then gives you just two options. You can send the petition to a friend, or you can give money to MoveOn.org!

There is no prominent way on the home page to give money to hurricane victims. You have to go to a scondary story on the home page about a new organization to find housing for the displaced. Once there, there's a small link area to several lefty charities.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee did this nasty little trick, too, but quickly pulled it when AP ran a story on it. That was days ago, and MoveOn.org is still up to its fundraising.
