Evacuees Won't Bash Bush On ABC

ABC thought they had a good idea: They'd send Dean Reynolds to the Astrodome to get comments on Pres. Bush's Katrina speech last night. Yup, that'd be the place to get some icy, spicy anti-Bush rhetoric. Heck, someone might even say he doesn't like black people.

Nice plan, but it didn't work. Here's what Reynolds got for all his effort, as reported by Newsbusters:
Reynolds: "Did you harbor any anger toward the President because of the slow federal response?"

Evacuee: "No, none whatsoever, because I feel like our city and our state government should have been there before the federal government was called in. They had RTA buses, Greyhound buses, school buses, that was just sitting there going under water when they could have been evacuating people."

Reynolds: "Was there anything that you found hard to believe that he said, that you thought, well, that's nice rhetoric, but, you know, the proof is in the pudding?"

Evacuee: "No, I didn't,"
After going 0 for 6, Reynolds sheepishly handed the story back to Ted Kopple, admiting, "Very little skepticism here."

NewsBusters has the transcript.
