Iran Defying UN On Nukes

Lost in all the "no WMDs" blather from the Left is the fact that Saddam Hussein continuously defied UN resolutions designed to contain his threat.

Now the Iranian theocracy is doing the same thing. From the NYT:

Defying the warning of European leaders, Iran said Monday that it was removing the seals placed by the United Nations nuclear agency at one of its nuclear sites to restart activities there.

European diplomats said that if Iran did go ahead and resume the nuclear activities, then they would have little choice but to ask for the agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency, to place the issue before the United Nations Security Council for possible political and economic sanctions.

A senior Iranian official, Ali Aghamohammadi, said technicians were going to break the seals to the uranium ore conversion plant in Isfahan on Monday afternoon in the presence of the inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, who are currently in Iran, the IRNA news agency reported.

By the end of the day, however, it could not be determined whether Iran had actually broken the seals.

This is not the action of a country that wants nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The Iranians are flying their colors boldly now, telling the world they will stop at nothing in their effort to become a nuclear power.

Given their jihadist tendencies and support of terror organizations, this is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, having "little choice but to ask [the IAEA] to place the issue before the United Nations Security Council" offers little solace.

This is why we need funding for powerful bunker-buster bombs. The Iranians cannot be allowed to complete their nuclear ambitions, and it's probably going to take a power more direct and forceful than a UN resolution to stop them.
