Hillary Among The Real Dems

Hillary and Bill will be at a $1,000-a-plate dinner in toney Nantucket this weekend (according to Robert Novak), at the home of Smith and Elizabeth Bagley -- who are not blue collar Democrats by any means.

Smith -- that's just not a working class first name -- is a Reynolds, as in that little tobacco company, and together the couple bought themselves an ambassadorship from Bill Clinton. Granted, it was a tier-two ambassadorship (Portugal), but it didn't come cheap. Smith Bagley is a premier Dem fundraiser.

The Bagley foundation, ARCA (Spanish for treasure chest), funds abortion (under the guise of population control) and toxics abatement. It's now run by Smith's daughter (Lizzie's stepdaughter) Nancy "Blush" Bagley, who hopes to turn it towards a couple of her pet causes, abolishing the death penalty and legalizing marijuana. (Interesting that tobacco money is going towards legalizing pot.)

Here's what Blush answered when asked who had the power in DC:
Steve Case of AOL. My father, Smith Bagley. He's a top fund-raiser and if you're raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for congressmen and Senators, that's power. Catherine Graham is very powerful. Ben Bradlee. Media people are very powerful. The media runs this city, really.
That, my friends, is the Democratic party leadership today. So rich they are out of touch with reality ... and when pressed, they can count all the way to four.

Remember this the next time you see Hillary pretending she's not just another Ted Kennedy or John Kerry.
