Passion Shut Out of Golden Globes
Laura Ingraham and Michael Medved had an interesting discussion this morning about The Passion and the Hollywood awards.
The nominees for the Golden Globes were just announced and absent was The Passion. Present were two films proclaiming the good of euthanasia (Million Dollar Baby and somebody help me on the other one), one honoring an abortionist (Vera Drake), and one diefying the man who brought free sex to America (Kinsey).
The Passion made over $500 million, it sparked controversy and it was wonderfully produced and directed, with powerful videography and a moving score. But most of the Golden Globe nominees probably didn't see it because, as Medved said, "It makes secularists extremely uncomfortable." He predicted no Oscar nominations would go its way either.
Hollywood has quite a problem. To be cool and respected in the industry, you have to ignore ... or worse, alienate ... half the population. This will get more interesting.
