Make A Call For Christmas!
Some things never change ... unless we work to change them! This from the Rocky Mountain News (here):
GHOSTS OF PAST CHRISTMASES -- In Christmas 1980, because of an ACLU lawsuit over the nativity scene in front of the City and County Building, then-Mayor William H. McNichols asked carillonneur Robert Gift to not play religious tunes on the building's bells.
Gift's 35-song repertoire was suddenly reduced to just a handful of eligible songs. And many of them would not work on the notes available.
To make a request this year, call Gift at 303-755-2224.
So, let's give Robert Gift a call, and ask him to give us a Christmas "Gift" this year. Maybe, "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful," or "Silent Night," or "Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem," or even a nice, rousing "Hallelujah Chorus." As Hugh would say, "Who wants halibut - or "Happy Holidays" - when you can have Handel? Call 303-755-2224. That's 303-755-2224. 303-755-2224."
