CBS Keeps Up Negative Rhetoric
That bastion of antiwar reporting, CBS, is staying true to its colors (think white flag) as the Iraqi election nears. (here)
After having talked to one, or possibly two, real Iraqis, CBS newspersonality Kimberly Dozier breathlessly reported, "The coalition has barely more than two months to make Iraqis feel safe enough to vote. But militants are using violence and a boastful stream of videotaped propaganda of attacks on U.S. forces to make many Iraqis doubt the coalition's ability to protect them on polling day. " You can almost hear that dun-dun-DUN! melodramatic fanfare behind her.
Ambassador John Negroponte's assessment that the vote will go well in all but a few provinces, and maybe there as well, notwithstanding; the growing success of campaigns in Sunni strongholds to increase security notwithstanding, Dozier's got her man-on-the-street quotes from two people who might not vote because they're scared. And that's the way it is? Oh, please.
