The Media And The Muslims

So, after the blogging world reported yesterday on the disturbing news of the Pew poll of American Muslims -- that a very significant minority of them would like to see us dead -- we see today headlines like this one, from USToday:

There are more, many more headlines just like that, or even more disturbing. Not wanting to re-invent the wheel here, just hop over to Ace of Spades.

Now ask yourself. If there were a poll that found that even five percent of Christians thought it OK to kill innocents, what do you think the headline would be? Even a poll that found a significant percentage of Dems who feel it's OK to kill bush -- and I'm sure they'd find such a percentage out there -- would be reported straighter than this.

It's a weird double standard. When one of their targets shows up in a poll, they will dig down to the most negative feature and headline it. When it's a protected class, like the poor, hated Muslims who didn't do anything (other than 9/11), they dig in to find the most Pepto-Bismal of the findings, and call that news.
