Non-Nations And UN Treaties

What use do al Qaeda and Hezbollah have for statehood? For the UN? None! It's much more efficient for them to be international bad guys with none of the responsibilties -- or military targets -- that come with nationhood.

That's why the UN ceasefire in Lebanon didn't worry me as much as it worried many. After all, Hezbollah was not a party to it, so I was pretty sure they'd blow past it in short order, opening the door for a more concerted attack against them and their sponsor states.

Even expecting this, the speed with which the Hezbos shredded the UN doc was stunning:
Highlighting the fragility of the peace, Hezbollah guerrillas fired at least 10 Katyusha rockets that landed in southern Lebanon early Tuesday, the Israeli army said, adding that nobody was injured. The army said that none of the rockets, which were fired over a two-hour period, had crossed the border and so it had not responded.
Please, please, please, keep it up Hezbo! This is what I was hoping for ... Israel gets the benefits of agreeing to the UN ceasefire, and then gets to go right back to work smashing an outlaw gang.
Now, if Olmert's just up to the job .... Maybe the quick violation will help him to find his convictions, or the people will replace him with a more forceful leader.
