PR 101 For Insurgents
If you're tired of hearing the Left rant on about blood-for-oil and "Bush's war," you ain't seen nothin' yet. Frequent (aaaarrrrgghh!) commenter Steve sent me a link to what appears to be a legitimate Iraqi insurgent PR video.
Watch it and you'll hear every Islamo-fascist Jew-hating, America-loathing lousy justification for terrorism you've ever heard -- all set to the sort of cheezy, melodramatic canned video music score that we PR types dropped a couple decades back.
It falls flat, though. Why? Because good PR has to be believable and this isn't.
No matter how many times you listen to it, you'll not hear a single justification for the terrorist killings of Iraqi citizens day in and day out. These murders of women and children, old people, shopkeepers, innocents all, have no legitimate claim for the moral high ground.
Also, they talk about all the hardship the war's caused. But those hardships would be over and our troops would mostly be home if they weren't fighting a war against us. Iran's infrastructure would be rebuilt, its oil revenues would be flowing into Iraqi coffers, its economy would be booming, its democracy would be protecting rights, not snuffing lives.
Good PR -- and this film isn't that -- can't cover up bone-deep rottenness.
