Joy and Luck At LATimes

Good news at the LATimes. First, the moribund yet still pompous Los Angeles Times Magazine is soon to be kaput, replaced with West. Second:
Amy Tan, who wrote "The Joy Luck Club'' and other best-selling books, has been named literary editor of West ... the newspaper said Thursday.

Tan, a California native who also wrote "Saving Fish from Drowning'' and "The Hundred Secret Senses,'' will help solicit fiction set in the Golden State for the magazine's "California Story'' feature.
