Christians And AIDS

We frequently hear that Christians hate gays, and that they are turning their backs on AIDS. Hmmm. Contrast that with this email I received this morning from Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church and author of The Purpose Driven Life:
Next Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov 29-30), that is going to happen to people flying in from all over the world to participate in a Saddleback conference we've been dreaming of for 3 years. And I don't want you to miss the blessing.

During 40 Days of PEACE, we talked about the greatest health crisis in the world - 40 million are infected with an incurable disease called HIV/AIDS. In America, it was first known as "the gay disease" but actually far more women and children around the world have HIV/AIDS. The odds are YOU ALREADY KNOW people with HIV/AIDS but they've never told you, out of fear.

If someone lay in pain and bleeding by the side of the road from an accident, you wouldn't walk up and ask "Was this your fault?" No. you'd just help them! That's what Jesus would do! But how? How would you help someone with HIV/AIDS? What would you say and how would you encourage them? How would you help a family member or friend with HIV/AIDS?

Next Tuesday & Wednesday, Kay and I have invited 54 experts from around the world, for an historic international conference on how regular Christians can show God's love and make a difference in the lives of people the rest of the world is afraid of. The purpose is to answer your most common questions, equip your with understanding. and show how you can spread hope!

Jesus said, "If, as my representatives, you give even a cup of cold water to a little child, you will surely be rewarded." Matthew 10:42 (LB)

With over 50 speakers, you'll have much to choose from, based on your interest. Kay and I will be speaking FOUR times over the two days. You'll also hear heartwarming testimonies, helpful videos, challenging Bible messages, and useful information. The workshops will include internationally known pastors, doctors, teachers, missionaries, authors, and a "made for Saddleback" video message from First Lady Laura Bush!
If you're interested in attending, email pastorrick@saddleback.com. There's a $25 fee.
