A Racist SCOTUS Note At PBS?

I can't verify this ... by a long shot, because it's from a Kos comment, but it's worthy of note. Here's the comment, verbatim:

On PBS, David Brooks just said something very odd--he said that in nominating John Roberts, it was clear that Bush was making this selection based on what he thought was long-term good for the court, because (paraphrasing here, not an exact quote) "he could have gone with a woman or a Latino, which would have had political short-term gain, but here it's clear with the person he's chosen that he's deciding this on other grounds and taking a longer view..."

Um, WHAT? Because he's a white guy, we can assume Roberts is a judicious deep thinker who's well-suited to the court? His being a WHITE GUY demonstrates that Bush wasn't being political, but that he was choosing the best-qualified person? THE HELL?

I may be wrong, and he may have been saying something else. But that's what I heard.

Let's see if this surfaces elsewhere. Was anyone watching PBS?
