And Isikoff Still Has A Job?!

Somewhere in the bowels of Newsweek, Michael Isikoff is slaving away on the let's-destroy-America beat, unharmed (defended yet!) by the fact that his reporting failure resulted in multitudes of dead people and an unwarranted thrashing of America.

Meanwhile, in a display of what really matters here in the US, Jake Bronstein was firedfrom his editor's position at FHM (no link from me to that trash!) for asserting that Howard Stern's girlfriend Beth Ostrosky is only famous because she dates Stern. Oh! The infamy!

According to the New York Post,

Bronstein's mistake was uttering his appraisal of Ostrosky during an interview on cable channel G4TV's "Attack of the Show" last week. After noting that Ostrosky's [FHM] covers outsell those of Halle Berry, Bronstein said, "Nobody knew who Beth Ostrosky was before she became Howard Stern's girlfriend . . . It was a good move on her part."

Bronstein also described interviewing Ostrosky as "a delicate situation," saying that the first time, he pretended to be genuinely interested. But the second time, "I was like, 'What's the big guy [Stern] up to?' "

The next day, Stern played Bronstein's comments on air. "They kind of make me sound like a total dope," Stern complained. "She's the first one to admit she's only [on FHM's cover] because she's my girlfriend." He then branded Bronstein a "little dicky."

When he heard Stern was upset, Bronstein called Ostrosky, who also writes a sex advice column for FHM, and left her an apologetic message. He then booked an appearance to go back on "Attack of the Show" to deliver an on-air mea culpa.

But it was too late. FHM editor-in-chief Scott Gramling called Bronstein and told him to cancel his appearance. Then, Bronstein writes on his blog, "Two hours later, Scott left a message on my voice mail asking that I call him . . . he told me it was over."

There you have it. Shame the disgusting and vile Howard Stern with something that's arguably true, and you're fired. Shame America with something that's not true and you're a hero. Doesn't that just make you feel just swell about the way things are?

Oh, and if that's not bad enough, try this:
