Heyward Making the Rounds
Andrew "I'm Still Here" Heyward showed up at the CBS operation in LA yesterday, according to the LATimes (here). Next up for Heyward: The DC ops, next week.
The paper reports that CBS staffers are hostile and concerned. The between-the-lines implication is that they don't buy this whole "bias" deal, that they don't like working stiffs being sacked while capitalist bosses run free, and that they're worried about their jobs. For example:

"This is a double whammy for us," said the staffer, speaking on condition of anonymity. "It's not just the report, it's also Dan Rather stepping down. It's a time of great uncertainty."While Heyward's job no longer is up in the air, CBS' news ops are. 60 Minutes Wednesday, battered in the ratings, may be cancelled, depriving Rather of his platform. And the once-tiffany Evening News may go through some big changes. From what we can see, those changes will be limited to format and will not attack the bias that is at the root of this evil.
