Celeb Tsunami-athon Nets $18M
Six days after the last note was sung at NBC's celebrity fund-a-thon for tsunami victims, they finally let us know the take: $18 million. Not bad, all in all. But here's the four little words from the AP news release that really bug me:
Oh, the generosity is overwhelming. Their time is SO valuable and they GAVE IT AWAY! Thank you Madonna, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, Maroon 5 and all the other performers. And thanks to the phone-sloggers, too: Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Ben Affleck.
If they had donated their party funds for just a week or two, they probably could have topped that $18 million.
