Illegals Won't Drive Legally In CA
For the second time in two days, Gov. Schwarzenegger has slapped the Cal. legislature upside the head, reminding it that it is supposed to represent the people, not its own hard-left heartbeat.
This time, Schwarzenegger signaled that he will veto a drivers licences for illegals bill. It's the fifth time the bill was defeated after the Legislature passed it, but Sacramento's Dems are so rabid they won't accept the lesson. The bill's sponsor, Dem Gil Cedillo of LA said the bill "reflects the national concensus," and he's right. Unfortunately for him, it's Mexico's national consensus, not ours.
Showing their maturity over the issue, the Dems responded by refusing to confirm Joan Borucki as head of DMV, the state agency that issues drivers licenses. Never mind that Borucki is a life-long Dem who's been heading DMV for a year already.
Meanwhile, the Dems were caught between their fidelity to unions and their green streak, and the unions won out. They turned back SB1, which would incentivize the installation of solar power systems. They required union laborers install all solar on commercial and industrial buildings, a move that killed the bill. And rightly so. Make the unions be competitive so they can win commerical and industrial contracts all on their own; don't subsidize their existence by forcing them on people.
Next time Cal's Dems harp about Oil Barrons, remind them that they missed their chance to diminish our dependence on oil, but they couldn't bring themselves to do it because they were kowtowing to the Union Barrons.
