Teachers Buy Control Of Schools

Back in May, C-SM noted that "Teachers Give Villaraigosa $500,000," and concluded that the California Teachers Union's interest in the LA mayor's race must mean he's their candidate for Governor. I predectated my argument correctly -- cities don't run schools -- but my conclusion was wrong. Today's LATimes explains what was really behind the deal:

So the CTU, which is lambasting Schwarzenegger around the clock in TV ads for failing to exempt them from the state's budgetary woes, once again shows itself to be nothing more than corrupt pols. First, they pay off their man. Second, they get their legislation. Third, the ask for their favors to be rewarded.

No wonder LA schools are leading the way as California slips deeper into scholastic morass.
