That Confusing Morality Thing

PR Week (subscription only) reports:
Democrats are developing a new communication strategy to reach out to people of faith through media outlets that cater to them.

The plan, said to be in its very early stages, is spearheaded out of Senate Minory Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) [and Mormon] office. The strategy likely will involve an aggressive increase of outreach to Christian ratio stations and TV networks. ...

Darrel Thompson, a senior Reid aide, ... added that the plan will demonstrate how Democrats epitomize thevalues of people of fatih better than Republicans, whom he said could be seen as 'exploiting' religion rather than adhering to its morals."
Democrats remain fixated on the concept that morality is just a message thing. They can't imagine that Republican Congressional believers didn't exploit Terri Schiavo, they simply tried to save her because it was the morally right thing to do. They think that if they just sit at the feet of Jim Wallis long enough, and talk about Jesus helping the poor sincerely enough, we'll look the other way on their abortion stand and won't ask the obvious question, "Sen. Reid, what has your party done for the poor lately?"

Oh, and hey Dem guys, Hugh Hewitt reaches people of faith, as do Dennis Prager and Rush Limbaugh. Go ahead, give 'em a call. I'm sure they'd love to have St. Harry as a guest.
