I would bet you anything that the engineer quoted by Fire Chief Mike Warren was expressing his frustration about the lethargic behemoth that he works for. I suspect that the unspoken portion of his "I'd tell my mom to evacuate" comment sounds like "I'm hamstrung because I don't have the authority," and whatnot. <br /><br />Working for the government as a watchdog for the taxpayer is like trying to conduct an orchestra of school children with a straight jacket on. I gah-run-tee you the engineer has saved countless dollars in that role with no credit for success and only derision from the customer he's protecting.<br /><br />In this case, however, I would err with you. There were too many people's lives and property at stake to wait 'for the paperwork.'<br /><br />Or (and I'm willing to concede this possibility) they could just be a bunch of incompetent boobs. At the very least, they don't seem to have handled the PR aspects very well (as you know all too well in your line of work - and I mean that sincerely).Robhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13922743620350075335noreply@blogger.com
